THE GARDEN OF HILDEGARDE - ABBEY OF THE CRETE
During these 4 meetings, we will approach trees from a botanical and cultural point of view with different myths and uses of the tree throughout history. We will also discuss the good practices of wild picking and you will discover the countless riches of local trees both edible and medicinal.
Throughout history, many customs and traditions have been associated with May Day. A symbol of spring renewal in the Middle Ages, the maypole, a fertility rite, was replaced by the lily of the valley in 1560, under Charles IX. It was in 1889 that the party took on its political hue and in 1947, that the day was closed. From a mythological point of view, the month of May has always been the month of celebrations in honor of vegetation, flowers, springs and water.
Between anecdotes and recipes, old knowledge and new uses, here is a great opportunity to enrich your knowledge, diversify your diet and take care of yourself naturally!
The walk on May 1 will be followed by a workshop with the production of an oily macerate of hazel leaves with veinotonic, ant-inflammatory and astringent properties.
