MUNICIPAL MUSEUM OF BOURBONNE-LES-BAINS
A room presents the archaeological remains, in particular those of the ancient spa town. You will discover, among other things, ex-voto, mineralized aurochs horns and a collection of coins among the most important of the Gallo-Roman world. Funerary stelae and everyday objects, as well as a statue bearing the image of the goddess Damona and two heads sculpted in oak, complete this journey through the ancient history of the city.
The fine arts room introduces the artistic history of Bourbonne-les-Bains, where many artists of national interest appear. You will notably meet the painters René-Xavier Prinet, Clément Serveau, Georges Fréset, Ernest Noirot, Jules Ziegler or Jean Tassel. Ethnographic “curiosities” (Kanak, Marquesan or African artifacts), as well as a collection of more than 200 stuffed birds, complete this journey.
Finally, a last room is devoted to temporary exhibitions, honoring regional artists or focusing on various themes related to the museum's collections.
