MEMORIAL CHARLES DE GAULLE : EXHIBITION "BIR HAKEIM 1942"

80 years ago, in June 1942 ... Mission accomplished! The 1st Free French Brigade of General Koenig not only held in check the German-Italian troops of the famous General Rommel, but also managed to get out of the trap. In Bir-Hakeim, in the Libyan desert, between May 27 and June 11, 1942, the Free French achieved the impossible...

The “Bir-Hakeim 1942” exhibition presents this battle in Libya in a comprehensive way, including a version specially adapted for young audiences. It focuses on evoking the commitment of the troops of Free France to face the enemy in difficult conditions.

It's now or never to go back in time. From the Hall of Honor of the Memorial, discover an authentic Fiat 13/40 tank that fought in 1942, a 75 mm gun, weapons, but also uniforms and pennants.

The entire exhibition has been designed to be discovered as a family with the presence of General Pierre Koenig, drawn like a character playing the role of narrator for children!
